Jeroen Manuhutu's Vocal Tip of the Month: June 2008

Category: Articles
Posted by Jeroen Manuhutu at June 6, 2008 9:00 AM

Monthly free vocal tip by top singer and singing teacher Jeroen Manuhutu from The Netherlands.

If you are studying singing and suddenly everything seems to work in a session, it is very important to repeat that good singing technique that you have found A LOT! What's happening is that your body memorizes this right technique in your "muscular memory". By storing this correct technique into your muscular memory, your body will gradually forget the old bad technique. For this same reason it is very important not to repeat bad technique very often, because otherwise your muscular memory will remember the bad technique instead. Of course your muscles aren't really memorizing anything. Instead it is an interpretation by your brain in the form of nerve signals to your muscles to make you use the right singing technique.
