Jeroen Manuhutu's Vocal Tip of the Month: July 2008

Category: Articles
Posted by Jeroen Manuhutu at July 6, 2008 3:15 PM

Monthly free vocal tip by top singer and singing teacher Jeroen Manuhutu from The Netherlands.

Just like top athletes it is very important for top vocalists to be mentally tough. A good way to obtain this is to go through these following four steps:

  1. SELF-DISCIPLINE. Everything starts with discipline. You need discipline to work hard and focused on your technique, lyrics, interpretation, presentation, your physical condition, etc.
  2. SELF-CONTROL. By working in a disciplined way you will be automatically gaining more control over your singing and your overall performance.
  3. SELF-CONFIDENCE. With you being more in control, your self confidence will grow more and more.
  4. SELF-REALIZATION. If you have enough self-confidence, you can work on the most important thing in singing: to let your creative spirit sing freely and to give a fantastic performance without any mental obstructions.
