Jaime Vendera: The Siren

Category: Audio
Posted by Jaime Vendera at August 15, 2007 6:00 PM

One of three exercises from Jaime Vendera's "Isolation Method"

Here is the Siren exercise. I developed this exercise when a friend of mine asked me how I was able to sing so high. So the first thing I thought of was how ex-Nitro singer Jim Gillette used to do these incredible sliding screams with his voice. So I demonstrated a Siren to my friend and it clicked. By the end of 45 minutes, he was sliding up five notes higher than ever before in full voice. So, now it's your turn.

Keep the Siren in full voice (don't flip into falsetto) and keep a big "Rocky Balboa" type sound as you slide. If you start with a big sound and maintain that same big sound, you'll easily slide up to the top of your range. Give it a try;)
