Vocal Coach comments from Janine Le Clair

HI Chrys,
I think you’ve done great for being self taught! You’ve learned to maintain control on long notes and shape them well. I also hear clear diction and a relaxed vibrato. Good for you.
Sometimes I feel like you can shift your tone forward a bit. Imagine the sound coming out of your mouth and hitting the wall in front of you. Also, learn to be aware of your shoulders rising during your breaths. This is probably causing some muscle tension in your neck and therefore throat muscles. Thanks for sharing! – Janine Le Clair, for VoiceCouncil Magazine

Chrys Henderson's bio

I am a human who really loves to sing. My songs are purely natural talent, and some practice – as I cannot afford professional vocal training. I have a lot of confidence in my abilities, but it took many years to gain it. I will always strive to be a better singer, and a better person.

This singer was an entrant in our competition which ended on June 15th 2017.

The overall winner received:

  • 1000.00 in Prizes (USD or equivalent)
  • Feedback from Celebrity Vocal Coaches
  • Media promotion for You and Your Music

I turned in 3 songs, and I seriously secretly was hoping for the Jewel one, because I thought that one was best. ::) So I am very grateful for this selection and this comment. I truly love this song. I discovered Scott Walker via David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust version of this. I strongly suspect that I am far, far more terrible than either at their worst, but I love to sing and feel that I am blessed with a gift. I am personally assured that I need at least some professional training (two vocal teachers that I tried insisted that I am a tenor, and well…probably not…)…
