Topic: "HIT" button functionality, and individual preset, Play GTX

Hi.

As I understand it, it is possible to make individuel presets for the guitar FX and assign them to your own preset.
Is it possible to change the any parameter on the guitar fx? I am interested in changing the volume from preset to preset?

Is it possible to assign Guitar FX on the hit button for a preset, so when you hit it, the volume will boost for example 2 db on the guitar volume?

The above is not possible on my VL2 (only by midisignals), so this would be a major advantage for the Play GTX, if it is possible :-)

Hope to hear from you soon :-)

Re: "HIT" button functionality, and individual preset, Play GTX

Hi Jan,

The guitar effects can be saved "per preset" or "globally" (global is designed for acoustic players who'd like a consistent guitar sound). So, you can set the volume of the guitar via it's amp controls differently from preset to preset, but settings like the overall guitar input level and the output guitar mix level are not preset specific. They are intended to achieve appropriate input signal, based on how "hot" your guitar is, and an output level to mix with your vocals.

Guitar effects are not tied to the hit button. It's only vocal effects that can be toggled On, Off or HIT.

Hope that helps!

Craig

Re: "HIT" button functionality, and individual preset, Play GTX

Thanks for the quick answer.

So I use acoustic guitar. That means, that I can not adjust the volume either with the preset or hit button funktion, because I only use the amp function for electric guitar - correct?
OR - is the amp funktion also available for acoustic sound (is there a seperate amp funktion for acoustic where I can adjust volume). If not, can I adjust fx. chorus and eq for acoustic on a preset, or is everything for acoustic adjusted globally?

Thanks
Jan

Re: "HIT" button functionality, and individual preset, Play GTX

OK, so you can NOT assign for instance, the distortion to kick when it's time to play a lead solo by using the HIT switch. Hmmm... That could probably be addressed with a software update. Anyway, so the next question would be: If you use the next available memory slot, what would the "lag" be? In seconds, I mean. And... could the guitar effects POSSIBLY be switched on/off by using the Switch 3 pedal? That would be truly amazing.

Re: "HIT" button functionality, and individual preset, Play GTX

Hi guys,

The way the guitar effects were designed (processing all the time) means that they can't be assigned as OFF, ON or HIT like the vocal effects can. That said, when Tom was doing his demos at NAMM, he used multiple presets and moved back and forth between them relatively seamlessly. You may find that the time it takes to load presets, especially if only the guitar effect changes, will be totally useable live.

The amp function is available for acoustic guitar. In fact, there's an acoustic amp in the models and several presets that are designed for acoustic guitar. They are preceeded by AC in the preset name. (Some folks thought we meant Vox amps with the AC)

Cheers,
Craig

Thanks Craig!
OK, so that means it's a very good thing it has so many presets. smile
I am trying not to build up expectations that are too high for this pedal... but it may too late! I really hate having a bunch of pedals in front of me, so this seems like a dream come true.
