Candice Sand teamed up with Grammy nominated writing team Kuya for her debut EP, and recently completed a 21 date tour across Canada.
We ask her to reveal what essentials accompany her from gig to gig.
Shure SM58 mic
I’ve had the Shure SM58 since I was 16 years old and I never leave for a show without it. Even if sound is provided at the venue, I bring it. It’s a good quality mic with a dependable sound I can count on.
I pride myself on being a super organized artist. In here, I put set lists for the show, the show contract from my agent so I have all the details on hand, and some lyric sheets for a few songs I might want to look over before performing.
TC-Helicon Play Acoustic pedal
When I’m performing solo, the TC-Helicon Play Acoustic pedal is my new best friend. My favorite feature and the one I get the most ooooo’s and ahhhhhh’s from, is that I can dial in a ton of different digital vocal background harmonies. It’s a really fun and effective way to build a solo arrangement!
Copies of my album
It’s just a must! I gotta be ready to promote my music and give people the opportunity to support me by buying my album.
A variety of guitar picks
Different picks have different sounds, so I’ll sometimes switch throughout the show based on what I’m hearing or feeling.
I try to dress to impress for every show, which to me means…heels! But once the show has ended, I discreetly slip on my flats just before heading home.
