Jaq Mackenzie – Mamma Who Bore Me cover

Vocal Coach Comments:
Being from a musical, the original has a more musical theatre interpretation, but it certainly works with your more pop interpretation. It’s heartfelt emotionally. On the technical front, I’d prefer to hear a more natural, less heavy ‘effected’ vocal sound. And whilst it’s great that you’re having fun using your G-XT and most of the harmony lines work, there are a couple of notes that don’t quite fit that you might like to look at changing, e.g. major when they should be minor and vice versa.

Jaq’s Bio:
I am a 14 year old singer songwriter. I am a 3rd Generation composer. My maternal g’ma has written many jazz songs which have been recorded by Carmen McRae, John Coltrane and more. I live in Santa Monica, CA and LOVE to write play and record. I am currently working with Ric Markmann(HEART / CHRIS CORNELL) and also record on my own at a different studio. I love what I do. This video was the 1st time I used my TC Helicon G-XT and what a COOOOOOL pedal – it was a great way to spend my Christmas money!! Momma Who Bore Me is a cover song although I use the pedal on my original songs as well. This and another cover are what I happened to post. Enjoy! Xo Jaq

Ya … I know what places to which you are referring. That still sometimes happens live if there is too much ambient or if my angle into the mic is not exact. In the video it happens when guitar goes from an open E into a regular E maj chord. Not sure why the harmony notes wavered from min to maj??? I held my note and the G-XT did that itself. Not sure how I would program it to NOT do that. Not sure it is something that can be changed manually. If you know then please enlighten me =). Anyone @ TC Helicon?? Thank you (voice coach) SO much for taking the time to critique the video/song. Visit http://www.jaqrox.com to hear more of my stuff =) Xo Jaq
