13 years ago All Saints hit the number 1 spot with Black Coffee a song written by an unknown singer/songwriter from Stoke on Trent called Kirsty. Originally called ‘I Wouldn’t Wanna Be’, the song was written about Kirsty’s then boyfriend, who she subsequently married. Having temporarily put her own dreams of becoming a recording artist in her own right on hold to start a family, Kirsty returned to the recording studio and in 2010 released ‘Elusive’ in Switzerland, entering the charts at number 20.
In 2012 she signed as a writer to Sony ATV Publishing with a view to writing songs for other artists. Kirsty is inspired by storytellers such as Bryan Adams and Joe Cocker and, more recently, by Norah Jones and Adele and sees songwriting as a personal release, her way of expressing herself. Writing with Don Mescall (who has previously worked with Boyzone, Backstreet Boys & Rascal Flatts) Kirsty was newly inspired to continue her own recording career.
