This week we’re looking at how you prepare for performance.
Recently on ‘VoiceCouncil.com’, Vocal Coach and Rehabilitation Specialist, Dane Chalfin has been talking us through his great Gig Day Warmup, However, as every voice, and indeed every person is unique, it’s important that we experiment to find the routine that works for us. This week we’d like to hear about your ‘gig day’ warmup and how it helps you to prepare for a performance.
So the question is: How do you prepare yourself (both physically and mentally) for a gig?
Great Comments from last week:
Last week I asked: Which song or album has influenced you the most as a singer and why?
Quincy Sean Stallworth commented:
“Eric Roberon’s Live in DC DVD. It’s like a ‘how it should be done’ album”.
Tony Carpenter commented:
“Neil Diamond – Hot August night. I used to sit with that old record playing and my acoustic guitar for hours. I learnt my love for story telling in songs from Neil among others. He was definitely one of my earliest, biggest influences”.
and Matt Calhoun responded:
“Sound of Silence, Simon and Garfunkel. The lyrics, melody and harmony beautifully intertwined as only Paul and Art can do.”
Thanks again for the fantastic responses everyone. I hope you are finding our weekly questions a useful way to converse and interact with vocalists all over the world.
